Aykan Safoğlu’s exhibition deals with narratives of what is divergent, arcane and even monstrous. The artist thus continues his longtime endeavor of setting fixed (hi)stories in motion. Historical objects of representation such as monuments or also other urban traces in Istanbul, Berlin and Stein am Rhein become points of departure for his artistic search for moments of fragile contemporary testimony. His works often start with photography, but then undergo different changes in media. They are ultimately presented as fragmenting, reflecting or shimmering rainbow-colored forms and thus harbor the (continuing) radiance of history.
